You do need someone to help you up and down the mast.
You also need a piece of thick braided fishing line at least the length of the main halyard.
Take the main halyard off and replace it with the fishing line.
Change an 8mm halyard with the main halyard
you now have a mouse line where the main halyard used to be , the main halyard where the genny or spinny halyard used to be and a length of 8mm for cleaning.
a few years ago I have seen "assorted" sheaves in the chandlery at levington - wonder if its still there. . . .
