I would like a second panel mount socket for this Lofrans windlass corded remote switch. Really struggling to find a supplier. Lofrans supply these with the new control up/down button thingy but not as a separate item.20211201_100026.jpg

Thanks very much Plum: that's the exact item, but Aliexpress seems to say it can't deliver to this country.

Or these SD28, be careful to check the diameter they are advertised as Aviation sockets but some have a very small diameter, possibly ok but it depends what you are looking for. I prefer a 25mm minimum diameter.

It appears they will ship to other European countries so hopefully you have a contact in another country who will forward to you as a "gift" to avoid another import tax.

ach... the joys of "you-no-wat"

It's probably because Aliexpress have not registered for UK VAT which non-UK suppliers now have to do for small value items and collect the VAT on HMRC's behalf. This is not a Brexit inspired change. It's as a result of an EU directive agreed before Brexit but implemented after it - albeit on an earlier start date in the UK compared to the EU. A large non-UK supplier like Aliexpress really should have got their siht together on this by now. It doesn't cost them anything other than admin work. It was years in the planning and didn't come as a surprise.

Alieexpress will ship to the UK, i think it's just some sellers that won't.

EDIT: i just added the item above to a shopping basket and it will allow me to order it and have it delivered to the UK.

I was trying to avoid changing the plug on a brand new windlass remote. It's on a charter boat, so every socket I've ever fitted in the last 15 years including a Bulgin set has corroded as charterers leave off the cap. Apart from having a spare when this one dies, I was going to fit a second in parallel as a backup. I don't want a wireless remote that will either get lost or be used from the cockpit, trying to shorten the distance between bow roller and windlass after the chain is right in.
