Unusual boat

Saw this today, sorry about the poor pic quality but it was taken on a mobile phone.

Was it towed in by the RNLI? Heard a panpan by a large wooden sailing yacht with 15 on board, Tech... something or other. Contained the line "I wonder if someone could tow us in or something". He got better after that

The PAN PAN was "Tectona" (SP?), also heard a nasty sounding mayday from Solent, concerning a serious head injury on a Sunsail yacht...

Vessel definitely wasn't under tow, just unusual. Haven't seen it on the river before.

she is local Essex i think. you photo was her best point of sail

I think she was up by Osea on Friday afternoon, turned and went down-river again.
I was by the Doubles then, and didn't get close enough to see her name.

Another unusual Boat

Spotted this one off the beach at Chalkwell (Southend on sea) at around 13:00 on Sunday. It was sailing West up the Ray and had just dropped the main. Shortly afterwards the mizzen came down and she carried on under power. A few minutes later I looked for her and she had vanished! Very spooky! The guy on the deck looks just like Cap'n jack Sparrow. Even more spooky! However I do have an opticians appointment today so all may be explained then.

am sure I saw her in Padstow harbour in the summer. Naturally it was the one day that the battery had died on my phone so no picture!!

Saying that after looking at the website, that particular 3 masted vessel sails the North sea and not down Channel.....
