I'm looking for information on unihabited islands in the South Pacific, particularly those which were (WW II) Japanese and American military bases.

All the standard pilot guides focus only on inhabited islands which are frequented by cruisers.

Web searches also turn up very little (well, actually nothing).

If anyone has recommendations or information I'd be most grateful.

Just checked on Amazon - this book is VERY expensive (£62 for the 1991 edition - £101 for the 1999 edition).

For a 160 pages paperback - what is the deal here?

I bought my copy 10 years ago in Florida, and will not sell it...
But I just checked with amazon.com: there are a number of copies posted at $$10-15,-
However, it's definitely not a cruising guide, more a list of islands and island groups, some described in more detail than others. some geografic details, but emphasis on history and adventure.
but fun reading when cruising in the area!
cheers
