Under water lights

I'm on the fence with underwater lights. They do remind me of the 'Max Power' brigade - kids driving around in the 90s with under-car lights. I can see the appeal of a night time illuminated dip at anchor but I have seen may people who keep them on in port at night, cycling through the colours. This practice is very naff IMHO
Glad you said it ^^^ brave man (y)

Its just gonna be just me and thee on the naughty steps, you with your UW lights and me with dead rise / EGT s .....nether mind :ROFLMAO:

Yeah im opting for Lumishore RGB lighting so i can change the colour depending on the occasion.

Green for St Patrick's Day, Pink for Valentines, Red for Xmas etc

Lumishore are bloody expensive for what you get........I’m an electrician and paying over £1k for three small lights goes against the grain !

Chris if it just Marina bling against the dock wall kinda thing , then mount yours under the bathing platform out in the air .
Drill holes etc or find surface mounting and run out of sight discrete wires etc .
This lowers the price back down to normal Earth prices that you will be familiar with ....eg ex pool lights or something?

I don’t want any added attention in port ! They will only be used when overnight on anchor.

I'll say it from the cheap seats ?

I always think there is a fine line between classy and chavvy. All the lights I see fall into those two buckets.

I also think the environ'mentalists will be along soon enough to say they should be illegal for keeping the crabs awake.
Do you have crabs.

Lots of research that LED street lighting is damaging birds. I'm sure the same applies to the poor fish. Next time your trying to get to sleep I'll come a shine a search light through your bedroom window ;-)

Just enjoy the natural environment for what it is. Nothing better than a beautiful moonlit evening in a quite secluded anchorage ;-)

You do realise that fish don't sleep, don't you?

totally put em on in port----people waking down dock in evening love em / love watching the fish. Totally in harmless fun category and whats wrong with that ?

As a liveaboard, I got quite irritated by occasional users nearby lighting up the water (and using exterior speakers).

Come on Mr Meldrew, calm down. Noise pollution is fair game to get all huffy about, but underwater lights cause you no harm at all. In fact they often light up an otherwise dark pontoon I find, which makes them better than harmless, it makes them useful.

I can’t see this happening, we need 3 lights @ over £600 each...........!
Yeh and three holes in your nice boat below the WL .
When you decide to sell it the buyers surveyors moisture meter will be all over the transom around said holes and the readings written down .
Could cost you , more ammo in the chip down gun of the buyer .

Fitted these ocean led x4 this year on our Fairline Targa 43, £135 per unit, pretty pleased with them so far and cheap enough that replacing any failed units periodically isn’t an issue. A963D4D9-B108-4D0F-8806-7DD29FF555F8.jpegE780335A-FF1C-41F9-888F-15437B50F513.jpeg
