That was my initial thought too, however the pair catching the roller at the end of the clip don't appear to be in reverse, as it were.
Never the less - either forwards of backwards I wouldn't want to be within 100m of that boat launch/recovery.

I think this has been discussed before, Think about the behaviour of the roller. Would it really bounce along in front of the bow and then jump under it?

It would make a huge dent in the bank rather than ride up it if it was trying to leaving the water.. Im amazed it didnt break the ships back over such a steep angle.
