Very interesting to hear Tims comments on coppercoat as I have experienced similar results with my coating applied in 2004. My boat is on a swinging mooring on the Orwell and I have to scrub every 4 weeks or so..I thought I was the only boat with coppercoat that didnt work and reading their adverts you would think it was the panacea for antifouling.

For us it's been just that: a panacea for antifouling
No weed or barnacles; only the slightest hint of some slime.

Before deciding to go with Coppercoat I contacted quite a few people/forumites who had gone down that route previously.
Most DIY applications received a mixed review: from so/so to downright terrible.
Nearly all who had it professionally applied in a controlled environment raved about.

copppercoat....sorry about forum creep

I suppose that at least if its professionally applied and it doesnt work you have some comeback, although if you follow their instructions and get the copper onto the hull in an even manner I cant see why it would make any difference.

Dear All,

Just another update re the antifouling……
Still nothing on the hull (what so ever!)

I have also left the impellor log in, and it's still working fine - normally after 3 weeks it would have stopped working by now and would need cleaning.

So far… so good!!!

Ian and Sarah

Not wishing to be killjoy, but for some reason I didnt need to clean my impellor at all last season, normally i would do it every 2-3 weeks as well.
