Has anyone experience of Ultrasonic antifouling on a GRP 10mtr hull
the payback time is starting to look attractive given the price of anti foul paint and tightening of legislation on it

There was a major review in PBO recently - last month's edition I think.

But I think all those manufacturers insisted on conventional antifoul as well as ultrasonic so I'm not sure where that leaves us!!!!!

Surely the problem is the provision of a constant electrical supply?

Personally was highly unconvinced it works or if it does its marginal. How 1 transducer could protect up to 10m of boat beats me. Not yet seen a boat independently tested with only ultrasonic fitted and no antifouling.

A chum fitted 2 transducers to his 33' boat about 4 years ago. The effect wasn't miraculous but kept the build-up of fouling reduced for longer than just antifoul. The gradual loss of speed towards end of season wasn't as pronounced. After one season he used antifoul as well and after another gave it the copper coating treatment. Still needs scrubbing. Boat is on a mooring and he powers it by solar charging the batteries; he conjured up a timer so that system not on all the time. I understand that such a cycle is ok but duration of off period is crucial.
