I cannot see a reason why not. All three marine grades, G30, 40 and 70, have low levels of carbon. G40 has a little more than the almost dead mild of G30, plus a little more manganese. The reality is that it is cheaper to produce to G40 even though it may be sold as G30. G70 is a heat treated version of G40.Is it feasible to do the same with chain of higher grades?
All of these are ductile and can be deformed without risk of fracture or developing cracks.
