UK entry notice

Helpful info, thanks.

But is it just me, or does the process still seem disconcertingly amateurish - such as the mobile number for the regional Border Force ‘office’?

I hadn't noticed before but it explicitly states that you're declaring VAT status of the vessel, which would make it active fraud if VAT is unpaid and you don't declare it.

What is this 'post' of which they speak? How do I make that work on my Iphone? Is there an app?

I see on the restricted goods list of Form C1331:
Animal products, (including meat and meat products, milk and other dairy products, fish, bivalves, honey and eggs).

No more French cheese then? 200-odd years ago my great-great-grandad made a living smuggling French brandy. Perhaps I should consider giving it a go with some Camembert. Customs probably wouldn't need to go to the trouble of getting a sniffer dog though, so probably not my best idea.

C1331 is being replaced by a web app.

You can read the comments of the Beta testers somewhere on the forum. I think the conclusion was needs a lot of work.

Once the Pleasure Craft Reporting Service app is running, you'll be expected to have an internet connection.
And how far off land can you expect to get a 4G signal - not 12 miles surely? So in future in order to cross the channel or North Sea in a private pleasure vessel we need satellite driven Wi-fi routers. Yachting is not just for the rich but it soon will be.

And how far off do you find a post box?
The 'paperwork' doesn't have to be submitted whilst at sea.

From what the Beta testers have said on this forum, you have to use the app before you depart the EU, giving a Lat and Long and time for arrival.

Thank you, that is useful info.
Unfortunately, crossing the North Sea or the Channel has become a bit of an obstacle circuit. We didn’t want this, but there we are. I hope we will see the day when all this is no longer necessary.
It's debatable whether it is 'neccessary', or it's a deranged, tyrannical response to a bit of seasonal 'flu.
