UK charts for OpenCPN - 22.20€

Yes. They are tied to the machine not the operating system. So you should have no problem on a raspberry PI or a PC running Linux.

I'm not sure if there is an idiots guide. o-charts have some info here:-
http://o-charts.org/downloads.html
and the oeSENC plugin is here
https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/oesenc.html
There is an opencpn wiki page here
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/d..._manual:toolbar_buttons:plugins:charts:oesenc

I had to upgrade to opencpn 4.6 to get it all to work, and also had an S63 user permit from o-charts. Then it was a case of creating fingerprint files on my laptop and uploading them to o-charts - the process of buying the charts sort of guided me through but it didn't feel intuitive.

Yes I have managed to get them onto my laptop. I upgraded opencpn on the laptop and the plugin was there. But on the raspberry I have the latest version of opencpn but I cannot get the oesenc plugin so that I can create the fingerprint. I will keep trying.

I tried for most of yesrtday afternoon between jobs to make sense of the oeSenc and S63 licensing system.

Then having ordered the British Isles and Neighbouring charts, I get the Spain ones and an extra charge as well !

Two steps back! I'll try and find a list of sensible clear instructions and post them. I fear I may be some time...

I just added the Pi plugin using preferences|add/remove software menu then filtering for oesenc.

Haven't loaded any charts yet but the plugin seemed to load ok and create a fingerprint file.

On a raspberry pi3 running openplotter with the latest raspbian. If you are not running the latest raspbian with openplotter then your machine might look different.

Go into menu and the add software is in preferences..

Cheers. I will have a play tonight

Just bought and downloaded Spanish charts, easy enough just following the instructions here..
http://o-charts.org/

Now running on a Pi3/openplotter V0.9.0 with opencpn 4.6

Web browsing is a pain on the Pi so i bought and downloaded the charts from a laptop and copied over , bearing in mind the fingerprint file needs to be created on the Pi which will be used. (filezilla makes swapping files from a laptop easy once set up).

In the vector files tab you can turn off all those triangles by unselecting "quality of data" in the mariners standard . Speeds things up lots.

They seem to run OK with the hardware graphics driver running .

Lets hope they roll out more charts which seems to be the plan, a godsend for us lot on the move

At last, a solution that should work for a Mac! OpenCPN updated, charts bought, fingerprint created, and now it is processing something...

Licensed for one year? Can they be used after that period?

Has there been a formal answer to this question? The answer that followed (#13) didn't seem too sure.

The O-charts Conditions state the following "oeSENC chart licenses are valid for the agreed period of one year starting with the date of licencing and include the existing updates during this period."

Do they self-destruct after the 12 months are up or just stop receiving updates?

[h=3]What happens when my licence expires after a year from purchase?[/h]Your chart will not disappear but you have to buy it again if you want to update.

I'm wondering if it would be useful and productive if we asked the forum Admin to set up an Open charts forum.

Any views please ?

Excellent charts - and they display much faster than the CM93 ones. Turn on quilting and they display nicely with the Antares charts as overlay. Very pleased with these! Thanks for pointing them out GHA - I had missed the announcement.

Just installed on my new Windows tablet, very nice. Will interface with my vYacht wifi router to make all of my onboard NMEA data available on the tablet.
