UK charts for OpenCPN - 22.20€

Been waiting for this for 5 years!!!
Works like a dream on my macbook.
Very happy bunny.
GPSNavX dead.
MacENC dead.
Took 2.5 hours start to finish to order, install, configure OpenCpn and use.
Fantastic.
Now off to circumnavigate Ireland with real charts on my mac.
:-)

Just tried to download the oeSEN C Chart Plug-in.

down loaded it from

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/oesenc.html

Norton doesn't like it, says it's very new and has very few users.

Is it OK to use???

I obviously don't want to download something which may infect my laptop.

Avast was happy with it, it's the one i (and probably everyone else) downloaded and i've just tried it again, Avast is still happy with it.

I've just tried to download and run oeSENC on a windows 10, 64bit machine, running the latest version of windows 10 and Opencpn version 4.6.1

The file downloads OK.

I can run it and it get through to the "finished" window, but when I look in the Plug-ins to enable it it isn't there.

Tried it 3 times, rebooted several time, reloaded OpenCPN, the usual things and I still can't see the plug-in to enable it.

Known problem, or am I doing something wrong?

I had a similar problem with my setup when having updated a previous version of OpenCPM to 4.6.1. There is an issue with previous plugins I believe because I uninstalled it made sure the OpenCPM folder was empty and all files deleted even after uninstall and then did a further install and all was good. Hope that helps. Cheers Bill

Update:

I now have the plug-in installed.

I had upgraded from CPN 4.4 to 4.61, but that obviously didn't work properly. I had to uninstall the upgraded version of 4.6.1 and reinstall it as a new installation.

I had the same problem on two different machines, a very low end and old Toshiba and a high end custom built laptop.

I may be being a bit slow here, but what is meant by a fingerprint file?

I've not come across that concept before, is it a special file I generate or one down loaded from OpenCPN or just any old file?

Once you have OpenCPN and the plugin installed, open the plugin preferences and you will find a button that enables you to create a fingerprint file. Once created, this file is uploaded to the charts website so that you can download your charts.

Thanks for the help, got them down loaded and working.

I must admit that I didn't find the instructions that easy to follow.

When the link to the charts came through, it wouldn't open with Chrome, it kept timing out, the server taking too long to respond.

I downloaded it with edge, slow data rate, just 2.8MB/sec ( I'm on a 50MB/sec fibre).

I also loaded the Antares Charts, I can switch between the vector and raster, which is interesting but not exactly seamless.

Some info about Raspberry Pi's:-

Don't use the sd card copier in the Raspberry Pi menu, to backup a SD card use win32diskimager

http://www.raspberry-projects.com/pi/pi-operating-systems/win32diskimager

Just tried that and it works fine, system still must be what the fingerprint files thinks it is - the charts open..

Presumably linux "DD" command works as well but haven't tried that.
