Has anybody seen the boat in the daily mail that the Rooney's are using. Money can't buy you taste. Check out the life raft. It came straight off a container ship.

Sorry, not sure how to get the picture on here.

I wasn't sure - they seem to have got their mast in the wrong place .... rigging seems a bit strange too...

They do say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure that the guy who designed it thought it was gorgeous

Elegant

That boat is called Elegant, and yeah it's not the most apt name (!). She is in the med at the moment and most summers. Was in Monaco last week or so.

The curvy naval architechture is horrible imho. Bu the rare thing about her is she is Solas licensed for 30pax. Nearly all mega yachts are 12 pax max, becuase beyond that number (the next staging post is 36pax) you need massively enhanced fireproofing and other build complexities, plus orange lifeboats which must be hung visibly, not covered up, hence Elegant's orange lifeboats.

I guess Rooney chartered this becuase of the size of his party, >12. The market for 36pax yachts is very thin. There are the 2 Greek boats Annaliese (now renamed Delmar or something) and Alysia, the gorgeous Christina O, the ugly O'Mega and a handful of others, but not many. And they are all VERY booked up, as are many mega yachts. So I'd give Wayne Rooney a break - he probably didn't have much choice and it's not really fair to say that using this boat means he has no taste! "Taste" in this market means renting Christina O but I bet she wasn't available

Also in this market Elegance is the cheapest afaik. Weekly rates for the most expensve (Annaliese and Alysia) are €600k+, Christina O is €450k+. Those are MYBA rates, food/drink/fuel extra of course. This is expensive stuff

Re: Elegant

Interesting to see the photo credited to Jason Fraser. I didn't think he bothered unless there was a sleb in sight. Guess the shot of the boat was an outtake whilst he was zeroing his lens.

The lifeboat's quite nice.

You've named some nice boats (ships) there. Thanks for explaination

Completely ugly on the outside but very very nice on the inside. Still,if it were offered to me for free and 2 million a year to run her,i'd consider keeping her /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Alas I think 2mill a year (GBP) wouldn't cover the running costs of a 70+m Solas boat. For example, visitor mooring on IYCA quay in Antibes, winter rate, about €3500 a night. Would be ok if you chartered her out lots :-)

If your heart is set on a Solas boat and you dont want a cutting edge contemporary interior I think you'd be better taking Christina O. An utterly beautiful boat with soooo much history, and you get to play at Frank Sinatra's piano

Edit: The other classic in this 36pax category is the gorgeous Delphine, the Dodge (cars) family boat, which I should have mentioned in my original post above. She is around and about Cannes and Antibes at the moment. But I bet she was booked up too http://www.ssdelphine.com/
