Does anyone know if this type of suit can be repaired?
I bought it new from the Boat Show in 2008 and have used it 3 times.
1st time it was used, it leaked from one of the ankle seals, which I repaired using 2 part Bostik 2402. 2nd time it was used, it leaked around the crutch area, but I wasn't 100% sure i had done the front zip up correctly and I was thrashing about in the water scraping Zaras bottom. The 3rd time it was used, I definately did the zip up and just used the suit to float in the water (mainly to check for leaks) and sure enough, it leaked in the same crutch area. I took it home , turned it inside out, sealed up the neck and wrists and inflated it with air. Used soapy water all over and eventually found that the area around the crutch was leaking air, an area appx 6 inches either side of centre. I rang Typhoon and they informed me that the Alpha suits come with a 3 year guarantee. Great thinks I, I can send it back and get it repaired.
"Yep send it back with the receipt and we'll have a look at it" Receipt?? Can I find it - no way, that was over 2 years ago, I don't even remember getting a receipt ( it was a Boat Show Bargain, end of line, last one we have mister!! And I paid cash (always do at boat shows)
So I'm stuffed!! Unless anyone has a receipt for a drysuit which they bought less than 3 years ago that I can use and claim on??
Or is it possible to do a repair myself on the material? If so, how would I go about it, what materials do i use and whats the chance of success?
Or perhaps you can recommend a drysuit repair agent that may be able to have alook for me.
Does anyone on the forum even work for Typhoon and would be willing to have a look at the suit on my behalf? Happy to pay to have it repaired (even happier if it COULD be done under Typhoons Warranty!!)
Any assistance gratefully appreciated as I now own a (virtually) brand new drysuit that isnt dry and is not useable.
