Recent threads appear to indicate a definate dichotomy/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif in posters. What is more important.Getting out on the water or the boat you are seen to go out in?

Do you mean princess owners and non princess owners? Or maybe black pudding eaters and those that hate the stuff ;-))

You can probably tell this by those who are happiest when hardly anybody else is out. We have come back with some amazing winter sunsets behind us, and only a couple of raggies to zoom past for company.

However, there are limits. Chipping the ice off the windscreen before starting is not my idea of fun.

Ok Deborah,I'm slowly getting the message, I'll just have to stick to BF.

Or we could get rid of hlb, that's a much better idea doncha think?

It just seems that ,ahem,in one or two other threads hereabouts that peeps will either give up boating altogether or run off and play elsewhere with their toys due to a possible rise in f..l prices. No mention of cutting cloth etc and mebbe getting smaller more affordable boat. Not aware that anyone on here is running around in a six foot dinghy and that the next step down will be waterwings. So why the reluctance to even consider a more fuel efficient craft.
The change perhaps from planing to displacement can surely not be that humiliating in order to keep the same size boat .

Am on the brink of selling mine signing conditions of sale today, am looking at a few boats one is a Birchwood 320 which has 2 x 185hp engines. Iprefer to do 30 knots but in some cases as long as I can get out on the water in a boat I like and feel comfortable in I am happy to drop the speed.

Fuel prices dont bother me as we arent part of the EU and ours will be much cheaper any way. Its just being out there mostly but obviously the boat has to be right if you are a paying a few quid for it and b got family on board and need comfort and safety.

Don't think it's anything to do with size of boat, more with how you enjoy the water.
Some like a nice gentle bobbing along at a sedate pace while others enjoy zooming around the place.
And to be honest I think I'd rather have a raggie boat than a displacement cruiser/forums/images/icons/blush.gif

I don't "do" boating for the sake of it, I do it because it's something I enjoy. I don't own a massive boat, at 35' it's just big enough for our family of four. With KAD 43's we average about 8 gallons an hour, not bad!

There is no "cutting cloth", I have a life outside of boating which needs to be financed.
I am happy with what we invest in boating and what we get out of it. If fuel prices rise substantially causing me to cut the journeys made by boat, why bother?
I would then be going to the boat for the sake of it not to use it. No thanks, I'll spend my money else where. Probably......

Ermm.. so which are you then, I take it you would be quite happy to get out on the water in beautifully styled Sealine or Gobbi then?
