Two rescued from mud in Conyer.

I was away childminding yesterday, but I am told two women in a rib got into difficulty due to mechanical problems.

They ran aground, got out and became stuck in the mud themselves.

The rescue services were called to recovered them

The fire service recovered a man who fell in the mud here a few years ago.

Best advised to keep out of the mud if possible.

Ah so that’s what happened. I heard talk of fire engines in Conyer at Queenborough today but no one seemed to know why. Glad they’re okay - sounds like they might not be experienced boaters.

They just might not have understood the dangers of EC mud like you obviously do? I consider myself an experienced 'boater' - but not in EC mud terms .

We bought our current boat from Conyer 12 years ago, I dropped a good marline spike off the boat & it plopped into the mud never to be seen again. Its probably still sinking! That mud is something special.

I was there yesterday evening, looked like half the Kent Fire Service were on scene. I gather the casualties were in the mud up to their chest, so they were lucky to get away with it. Two rules apply -
Rule 1: Stay in the boat.
Rule 2: Don't get out of the boat.

I believe myself immune to Medway Mud, but was once nearly caught out in Faversham Creek.
