Two echo sounders

I am mounting a NASA Duet joint speed and log in the cockpit. I understand you can't use repeaters with these so I will have no indication of depth at the chart table. I have several spare echo sounders which would be fine for this but is it possible either:

1. To run two sounder heads off one transducer at the same time? Or

2. Have two echo sounder transducers working at the same time?

3. Have some kind of switch over between deck and cabin instruments?

You certainly can't use 2 sounders with 1 transducer. (well, you could, but getting highly technical).

However I'm sure you'll be OK with two seperate sounders/transducers as long as they are sufficiently apart (e.g. fore & aft) ...........unless you are travelling at supersonic speeds, that is.

Re: Getting technical

If you choose to go the 'switch' route, try to make a reasonable coaxial switch (Maplin probably have one off the shelf).... though at the frequency we're talking about (150kHz) I doubt if it will cause much trouble. You must maintain the overall length of coax the same because most transducers are tuned as an 'item'. (lazy engineering, IMHO).

well I have 2 transducers, and they are so close they touch.. but neither interferes with the other. I d guess the frequency is as dependent as the distance apart.
