Can anyone recommend a decent tv aerial for marina use. They seem to range in price from £6.99 to £200. I presume there is a difference in performance. Thanks
It really depends on the strength of the existing signal where your boat is & whether you have a mast that you could fit an aerial at the top of should the extra height be required. If there's very little to no signal you're on a hiding to nothing but if there's some signal to speak of you're in with a shout. I've used one of this type for years and not needed to put it up a mast but where I am there's a reasonable signal...
What is everybody else using. ?
Height gives more advantage than cost.
The disc types seem to be very popular, inside a small square bit of PCB board with a copper track laid on the surface. About 20p worth .
Anything with an amplifier will be better.
Loads on Ebay.
Had em all over the years, with varying success.
Although we haven’t used it for a year or two, we have a basic active aerial from Tesco that is surprisingly effective. Normally, we just put it above the companionway, though it sometimes works from inside the boat. Obviously, height is an advantage. I would get a cheap one and see how you get on. The only downside is that it will have been made in China.
