Hi All, just had my marina contract renewal. Doubled!!! Can I cruise the Turkish coast with no marina contract then leave the boat over winter with a 6 month marina contract? I will have a valid Transit Log.
thanks RPP

Paul I been away from Turkey for some years so I'm not going to try and answer Ur question but if you post on the Med Sailing forum on FB I'm sure you get an answer

The Transit log is valid for 12 months from date of issue.

You can leave the boat in Turkey with a valid transit log for a period of 5 years before you have to remove the vessel from Turkish water. Tax reasons I think. But you would need to renew your TL annually.

The other issue of course is how long can you as the skipper stay and unless you apply for residency then you can only stay 90/180 days, the same as Schengen.

If you wish to stay longer then you may find that you must apply for a short term residency permit. Incidently this can be applied for whilst your in Turkey however you may find that the length of time your allowed to stay will coincide with the end of your marina contract.

Hope this helps

It's a long time since I've had a transit log but, as far as I'm aware, there is no requirement to have a marina contract while your boat is in Türkiye. You can certainly do as you suggest - cruise in summer and leave in a marina/boatyard in winter. Just make sure your transit log covers the actual areas you plan to cruise or have it amended if not. Also be sure to have any crew changes during the season recorded on the TL.
Marina fees have gone crazy here and a lot of owners are finding cheaper options on the Greek Islands for overwintering.
As mentioned you need to be aware of the 90/180 rule for you and your crew.
