Incidently I found out the other day the promotion to change flag to TR has finished, In the doldrums at the moment but will be reintroduced at 8% tax on the value of the boat instead of the 1%

I guarantee there are plenty Delaware reg boats owned by Turks in Fethiye on Transit Logs and they’re not using agents. If you have a local Turkish pal who knows his way around I suggest you ask him to accompany you to the HM office next time and I don’t think he’ll be refused. For check-in you need to bring a blank Transit Log but you can buy these from the local Deniz Ticaret Odası - current cost $35 + 80 TL. Assuming your boat has had a previous log all the info is in the system. Passport control is a dawdle and for customs you just need to remember to bring copies of your reg and insurance for them to retain and have completed the equipment and fuel declaration forms. I availed of the previous amnesty on my ex boat and I’d probably think seriously of doing the same if an 8% scheme is introduced.
