I am thinking of moving a newly purchased yacht to somewhere like Marmaris or Bodrum for a couple of months from end of May until end of July, before sailing her back to UK in August.
Does anyone have any info on best Marinas to go to for availablility, price and victualling? I will probably need a liferaft serviced there as well.
URL's of Marinas would be great.

Thanks

Steve

Most convenient in Marmaris is Netsel marina, right on the E edge of town. Minutes walk from all facilities & shops, chandleries. Masses of choice. Endless list of marine services available. There is nothing that can't be made or copied. Marina is superb, showers are built in marble and attended 24hrs, squeaky clean. www.netselmarina.com includes a handy fee calculator. My sadler 32 is 1400Eu p/a. land is limited so hardstanding is comparatively expensive. Once you get someone who speaks good English the office is very helpful. Language is seldom a problem in yottie areas in Turkey. Go inland and...

The other marina is Yatmarine I think. A bit cheaper and 15km around the bay so rather isolated & much less convenient.

Bodrum said to be good but no personal knowledge.

A couple of excellent places at Fetiye, 40Km East.

Marti marina 20Km W is by far the most scenic and well quite equipped but Marmaris is 40 mins drive and the nearest town.

You'll turn addresses for these places on Google.

Thanks for both replies, I shall look into your suggestions closely, the move is on hold at the moment as I am trying to buy in Turkish Cyprus with a view to taking back to the UK eventually, after talking with HMCE it would appear there may be a VAT problem unless the current owner re-imports the vessel himself. Hopefully we can resolve this little crisis and the sale can go through.

Thanks again

Antalya Airport remains open though most charter flights stop at the end of October. Cyprus Turlish Airlines are a scheduled airline with tolerable (but not cheap) prices when booked in Turkey. However, they are much more expensive if booked in the UK.

You can get from anywhere to anywhere cheaply within Turkey by coach.

Charter flights run to Bodrum and Dalaman mid May to end October. The rest of the year is a real pain. Antalya (250km East) and Izmir (200Km W) are open year round. The taxis have a stranglehold on the airports - there seem to be no buses so you have to get a taxi to the bus station where communication in English is likely to be difficult. Turkish Cypriot Airlines appear to operate to Dalaman year round but go via Istanbul and take 10 - 12 hrs from london. Incedentally they have the worst website ever - and are not much better on the phone if they ever answer it (Office in london).

Taxis are cheapish and fixed-price at holiday airports. There is a board displaying rates to various destinations. Once you know the local services at marina end use them. Taxi marmaris to Dalaman as little as 50Eu, not bad for a 100km run at midnight. Or get a liveaboard mate to hire a car and come fetch you. Or just stay there...

Hi Steve, I too were thinking of negotiating for Hannabella, but was put off by the vat issues, HM Customs and Excise are a nightmare to deal with as i am sure you are finding out. Best of luck with the purchase, she looks to be a great boat, great price too.
