Backstory:
At the beginning of the year I had a pinhole in the flange between the turbo and the injection elbow on my TAMD61a
I bodged it with a car exhaust bandage.
Yesterday morning I went up on the plane and the port engine was down on power.
It then overheated.
After checking the obvious (impeller, strainer etc) I wanted to take VolvoPaul's advice and start at the end. ie check the injection elbow.
I knew the flange would fall apart and so ordered a new one (thank you Keypart).
The elbow was about 60% blocked so I'm hoping that's the cooling and power issue sorted.
Anyway the question!!
The turbo spins freely and has no play. There is a bit of carbon in there. Ignore or clean? If clean, what with - oven cleaner?

As an aside, this is what the pinhole became under the exhaust repair blanket in a few months!
