I've just gone and bought an iPod and am busy loading it with CDs and I have to say that I'm looking forward to working my way through our CD collection without having to take all them discs on to the boat. A couple of tunes that will be played incessantly will be Pink Floyd's Echo and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy.

What would be your choices?

My choice would be to accidentally smash the ipod by stepping on it, and having a conversation instead, or looking at the stars, or anything, esp if it to play anything "incessantly"....

Hmmmm.... while you're at it with the Pink Floyd songs, why not include some Sheep and Dogs? Next I would include some Freak Kitchen songs such as Silence and some great Frank Z instumentals such as The Ocean is the ultimate Solution, I promise not to come in your mouth and finally Don't you ever wash that thing. Grat sailing tunes, cause this is a boaty topic, right?

I should have added via headphones and that I'll be alone on watch at the time.

in that case, i would have a remote control heehee. oh alright, how about some Stockhausen. Alone at night under the stars and listening to the warm romantic melodies of SCREECH SCREECH SCREECH bang bangity bangity COCK-A DOODLE DOO woof woof etc etc :-)

I have an Mp3 player and spend time copying comedians like Jack Dee or Eddie Izard for company on long watches.

This year I have copied the audio from Fawlty Towers and Red Dwarf.

Music choices, Yes go down well along with PF and definitely Led Zeppelin when you need to play a bit of air guitar to wake up.

Guess I'm the only one who likes listening to Vysotsky while sailing...

The latest generation of car audio not only plays MP3 CD's but also have a usb port so that an Ipod or memory stick can be connected directly and used as a music source. Some new radios even have a slot for plug in memory cards.

Alone on watch and wearing headphones? You won't notice the fishing boat on autopilot that runs you down at nine knots then, and since the crew will be on the stern sorting out nets they won't notice you.
