how about some Stockhausen.

[/ QUOTE ]
When asked if he had conducted any Stockhausen recently Sir Thomas Beecham is reported to have said "No, but I trod in some on the way here."

I would go for

Quiet contemplation:

Holst planet suite (although save Mars for waking me up)
Barber's adagio for strings, The Ashoken Farewell (Ungar and Mason), Gorecki symphony no 3, Weather Storm (Craig Armstrong) and Chi Mai (Morricone)
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Radiohead - Iron lung and OK computer
REM - Automatic for the people
Eva Cassidy - Songbird plus a little Norah Jones

Powering on through or having a little solo dance:

Best of Britney (I know I know)
Some sort of "best air guitar album in the world and then some"
Thriller
The soundtrack to Westside story, Phantom or Evita so I can yodel along.

REM - Automatic for the people

Excellent album, I have unfortunately killed it by playing to death, maybe able to listen again in a few years time.

I have said before on the forum, but always worth a mention,

The Who - Quadrophenia

Townsend and Entwistle at their very best, track 2 the real me will blow any music lover away.

Would that be Captain Cooper of the Motley Crew?
Well actually that is Fatty Cooper, purveyor of horseless carriages to non-licence holders in Fleetwood. I was just the talented bass player.
