Years ago about 1981 I was working in Le Havre and a tug got it wrong with the ship it was working with and the tug was sunk in the harbour, I believe killing the crew.
In the late eighties I had to do some promotional photography work for ABP Southampton. I was driving a Shadow 26 and had to be photographed with the QE2 in the background as she came up the Solent. The photographer was on one of the Harbour Patrol launches and insisted I got closer and closer to the QE2 until I was practicaly under the flare of her bow. At 26 knots, scarey wasn't the word. All I could think of was "please dont let the engines fail me now". There were a few brown underpants moments but thankfully both ABP and Cunard got the shots they wanted.
