We hear that a warning system is to be set up in the indian ocean like the one in the pacific. AFIK there isn't one for the atlantic but given that there is plenty of volcanic activity in the middle of the north atlantic, shouldn't we be demanding one too?

As you're in Cornwall you will probably get hit first.

If you do , can you give us a call.

Re: Nah

Disagree, a Tsunami devastated Brighton last year when PaulineB took a dip! Now what kind of early system do we need to put in place to alert us to large amounts of water displaced by large amounts of wummin?

I believe Greenpeace operate a 'whale watch' service !

But wasn't it Greenham that used to run a 'wimmin watch' service? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One of the problems with forums, no one knows who knows who, so they go with the flow. Slap down Jimmy for starting it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Isn't it time, then, for the T*x Off*ce to relocate to the coast? Cornwall is needing inward investment, isn't it. Then Snowleopard could keep us all posted /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

From what I can see you peeps round your side of the world need a good shake up and wash every now and again like we down here get /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Then there is a collision with a big asteroid to worry about - everyone knows that they land on the top of the world, not the bottom. Don't they? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

450 miles an hour. Not much time to move to deeper water when you get the call from cornwall.

If I were you I'd move slowly and quietly and avoid earth moving events, I was under the impression that NZ being on the edge of a plate was markedly impernament in geological terms?

Yes is a bit shaky down here WeeJimi.

We live by the sea but I understand the bit we are on is going up - might just be some myth to keep property values up or something though cos only about 50 miles away it is going down.

And Bergman all the poor sheepies have had a bad time this year getting drowned with floods and are all a bit damp and smelly for any hanky panky. It continues into the summer as we had 4 inches of rain the other night (6 inches in 24 hours) and is pouring with rain/blowing a gale again today. We were hoping to get away on the boat for a few weeks late next week /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.

Re: Going UP

Us too.. but I'm already 600 + feet above sea level... apparently there have been Tsunamis on the East Coast of Scotland caused by landslides in Norwegian Fjords.. bit like the Canaries Volcanoe.. But it'll take less than an hour to get to us.. so I just hope I'm home and not at work in Inverness!
