Have people been evicted? If so, you have to feel sorry for them. They probably had little choice in affordable places to live and have been taken advantage of by Trotman, and no doubt lost some of the 'rent' they have paid. I doubt they even realised the rights and wrongs of it all.

In pics 1 and 2, the people standing by the boat are/were residents. They must have been aware of the situation because the Police, the EA and the council have been in regular attendance.
Trotman was marching up and down with his bicycle helmet on, giving orders to the tugboat, demanding the removal of his oil drum BBQ, generally trying to look like he was the one who was in charge.
He's younger than I thought he'd be, possibly late thirties. Having seen him in action I'm convinced that he's got a screw loose.
I'd love to have hung around and waved him off, but my dogs could see the river and started barking for a swim so I had to leave:D

I wonder where at Penton Hook if not the marina? I would have thought the best place to dismantle them (if thats what is goinfg to happen) would be Shepperton Marina.

Or the EA yard at sunbury but I think thats been mothballed they took the crane down quite a few years ago.

If you go in from the river to PH marina past the clubhouse pontoon, then hang a right instead of a left, there are the old gravel pits ( I think they used to belong to an MP about 50 years ago, Jim Spicer ?). Lots of space to put a few derelict hulls till all the personal belongings are taken off and re-united with their rightful owners.

In the 50s we used to play on the peninsula where there is now a big industrial unit; leave the house at dawn, and return at dusk. No H&S, or mobile phones to worry about . Just endless sunshine and a bunch of kids on bikes, one towing a lath and canvas canoe on pram wheels..

So what has actually happened? They went through onto the tideway and tried to moor up, but have now towed back through by the EA to go to Penton?

Is there a risk they will still be lived on tucked in the gravel pits at Penton! Afterall still a pending court case that you need a license in there!

Yes i have been to the pits in the dinghy :) seems like an odd place to put these boats.

I suppose as you suggest its a temporary holding area at least it gets them off the River.
 
Any reports from up river? It strikes me that at least the swim headed one (blue superstructure) will have been a darned tight fit in Shepperton lock.

The flotilla of squatters Between Hurst Park and Walton must have gulped when the EA towed Trotmans slumboats past them. Trotmans actions gave many the green light to do as they please, with any luck yesterday's enforcement will be viewed as a red.
