Trim Tabs

I had the wiring altered on my last boat so that the left switch dropped / raised the port bow and the right switch dropped / raised the starboard bow. Seemed more intuitive to me. As supplied the left switch operated the port tab so dropped the starboard bow, and vice versa, and to make it worse, ‘down’ meant ‘up’.. 😳.

My boat seems to have a strange quirk ..... as the speed increases - I trim to bring bow down and plane ... but once the speed gets past about 17kts ... the tabs are eased back a touch .....

I think whats happening is the torque and weight of the bigger, heavier engine previous owner fitted is having effect. Original was AQ130 4cyl ... replaced by AQ170 6cyl. When speed gets around the 17kts - the aft hull itself lifts the extra weight

Hi All,

Can anyone throw me some quick advice on trim tabs

I have quite an old system fitted I think. Two buttons on the helm (bow up/ bow down) no lights, no indicators, no beeps! Just two old plastic rocker switches

One trim tab has stopped working

The pumps and motors etc look mint

I want to update the system (especially the switch end)

Do I need to buy a complete system?

Can I just up-rate/update the switches and have indicators of some kind?

I have no idea where to start

Can anyone recommend a good supplier that I can bore to death with questions?
Are they Bennet?

My boat does the same; on a 1 to 10 units scale, progressively increase the trim to 10 units at 17 kts, then progressively reduce to 6 units at 23 kts.
