Hi,

may be a stupid question, but am I correct in thinking Bow up=Trim tabs up
and Bow down=Trim tabs down? or vice-versa?

thanks

Barry is he saying what I think hes saying i.e. If the bows are up then the trim tabs are up, cos this would be correct, not vica versa

But if hes when the bows up what do I do with the trim tabs then we would say put them down.

Let us know how you get on and post your results on the bulletin board of the Aeronautical Society as they too will be interested /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

My boat works like this- put both tabs fully down towards the mud= bows lower, as the stern gets more lift. Bring the tabs up, stern lowers= bows come up. The confusion arises in the function of the actual trim switches, some boats are wired differently to others. Simple solution is to try it, make a note of the results then problem solved.

Or am I missing something really complicated??

My boat work like this !

Power on ! Nose up ! can not see where we are going , fine by me !

Swmbo " I Can not see where we are going and it is a bit rough ??"

Trim forward ie down !

Swmbo "I can see where we are going it is not that rough now "

Works every time ! or is it vice-versa?

Thing is for some bizzare reason my Swmbo trusts me (silly girl) and does'nt complain at all. I think I'd bottle it before she would!!

Is it not the leg that should be trimmed, i.e=

I work like this- leg/trim right down till we pop on to plane, then leg/trim up to bring bow up. I thought tabs were there just to give you a more comfortable ride.

cheers

Alistair..

left right

Yes correct. Remember many boats are wired left to right deliberately, so the left switch operates the right tab and vice versa. Fairline do this standard. You therefore need to make sure you know how your boat is set up

Well yes I see what your saying, which is true, but the question read the other way. If you look at the way it was written it could be either way depending on which way you read it.If you know what I mean.
