Does anyone have experience of this arrangement and practical advice as how to install. My yacht does not have a stern hung rudder. Is it possible to have a cable ling between the trim tab and autohelm?

Can't see any reason why you shouldn't do this. How far is it from the transom to a) the trailing edge of the rudder, and b) the stock itself.? Also, not familiar with the boat, can you give a short description please?

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

with a transom-hung rudder a tiller pilot can be fitted to the trim tab which works well though you have to modify the linkage to act in reverse.

if the rudder is not accessible from the deck the linkage problems become difficult though not impossible. if you can't get at it to fix problems you could be storing up trouble for the future.

The yacht is a Flamenca class built in South Africa, 7.5m LOA fin keel racer/cruiser. I will have to check dimensions of rudder relative to stern.
