I am in the process of removing the Bosch Injector pump from the Yanmar 4JH4-HTE engine fitted to our boat. Bit of a nightmare as the injector pump has a bracket which requires the engine/gearbox unit to be lifted for access to the bolts. Attending to that tomorrow, lifting via an air jack under the sump. Once the bracket is removed the injector pump should detatch. The wire from the loom to the Stop Solenoid has the connector in the illustration. No mention of it in the repair manual, cant find it in the parts list. No amount of twisting, pulling, pushing plus a combination of all three shifts it. I cant find any hidden spring clips either.

Anyone help?

I can't really see it on the small screen of my mobile but if the worse comes to the worse and you don't get an answer, you could leave the mystery connector in place on the solenoid, cut the wire and fit a crimp connector.

Of course, once you have done that Sod's Law will ensure that you immediately realise how to operate the mystery connector !

That, of course, is the option. Thank you.

If it IS a fuse/connector/choke or resistor I really should know what it is or does. And, how to separate it.

Talking to the UK Agent for Yanmar was useless - they directed me to a busy and experienced dealer.

Who, of course, does not want to waste time talking to a DIYer.

I, in a different life, was responsible for customer and dealer technical enquiries for two major vehicle makers.

Yanmar dont have anyone doing the same these days.

Thanks - it will not push together or twist either way, or unscrew.

I have experience of most commonly used fuse holders but this is not like anything I have seen before.

The wire has been cut, to be re-joined upon installation of repaired pump.

Now it is at home, after I have cleaned the pump unit I shall have a closer look and find out how it works.
