What defines a Trawler Yacht, is sea keeping qualities or a particular look, or is there more or less too it?

Well if Trawler means it tows a fishing net and Yatch means it has sails then I guess it's a raggie that does commercial fishing /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

I stand to be corrected, but it's probably the look, a la Island Gypsy, Grand Banks et al.

Technically it should take on the appearance of a U.S. Shrimp fisher with a steadying sail. So! in essence yes! it is the look, the hull formation should be round bilge but reality dictates all sorts of underwater types ... even Deep Vee.

I got a US maga zine specializing in trawler yachts. They would define it as any rugged looking non gin palace which goes at displacement speed.

Theoretically one having evolved from fishing boat design in which case you would include the Fisher ranger of motor sailors.
