Transport of a 38' Trawler from Holland to Norway

Option 1 ship it I used peters and may but many companies organising this, advantage little boat running sort out servicing etc on arrival, known costs and documentation for VAT etc.

Option 2 drive it say 700 miles so 10 to 20 days depending on weather, breakdowns but high additional costs.

Option 3 by road firstly will it fit under the bridges, looks a bit high to me, mine was. Then cost?

Yes. Too high for road transport. I got from the NL dealer yesterday that the height was 4,7 meters with everything folded down, so road is out of the question now.

Rotterdam to Scandinavia is a well served shipping route but the size of your boat will make it expensive it shipped on flat rack containers due to lost slots and special handling / lifting costs. Conventional vessels generally dont operate on this trade on a liner basis as they simply cant compete with the container boys

lovely looking boat you have there! whatever route, please take some pictures to show us the trip!!

Thanks Z1ppy :) Will show pics of the trip home, be it on a ship or it's own keel :)

Lovely looking boat. Seems somewhat familiar! :)

Thanks.
I have those lines before as well, but cant place it...

Hi Sap,

Just for reference regarding the cost: I payed 12.500 eur to Peters & May to have my boat transported from Southampton to Turku, Finland. It was by road to Harwich and then on a ship from there. My boat is 43 foot long.

Lovely boat by the way, congratulations!

Here's somebody who knows it all obviously...

Used to do delivery of new Windy boats from the factory and FYI my previous boats averaged 150-250 hours a year.

If you have some tips about ship transport please share them. If not, no one forces you to read this thread.

Have a good day :)
