It might have been because I said my boat was going back into the water on April 1st, but should I really use castor oil in the transponder?

Castor oil works.ordinary vegetable cooking oil also works.Mine is stuck to the hull inside with silicone which also works. Good luck on launching day.

Almost any oil will work, the only objective is make sure no air is trapped under the lower end, so even blue tack or Sikaflex will work.
