I don't think Buck explains his picture well - his emergency ladder in the white bag looks about the same as mine- totally stowed rolled away but the there is a trailing line reaching to the water line - tug on this and the ladder is deployed. I cant see how how a laser on the transom would help much getting back aboard it it is not already deployed , a point that is clear in Dipper's and Petite Fleurs cases when they fell in. For a swim or other use I use a ladder that hooks over the side - not the transom and found it much better to use - others have mentioned the pitching problem with transom mounted ladders...
