Any information on Fitting Depth Transducer to transom, with outboard engine fitted on transom also.
I thought there was a discussion on this subject a few months ago, but a search does not reveal it.

We used to try this when hiring boats for survey work. It was much easier to make a temporary bracket for the stern than for the side.
One prob was cavitation where the bubbles in the prop wash affected the sounders performance.
We used to make brackets from old outboard mountings.

there should have been instructions with the f/f as to where to mount the transducer, but gen about 12 inches to the side in clear water just like you would mount a outboard speedo pickup.

You will probably get erratic readings over 20 knots due to air bubbles in the wake, you can also glue most transducers to the interior of the hull, on the centre line is best about 2-3 feet in front of the transom using epoxy resin its also less prone to damage, mine worked very well all the way up to my max speed of 35 kts.

Leaving aside the issue of bubbles etc, I had problems with a depth sounder mounted astern of our keels. Several times ran aground edging up into shallow water at slow speed. Mind you, the echo sounder told me that I had done so!
