Thanks for your comments, I understand the points made about repair of defective systems but since most antennas come with moulded in leads these days the only thing to do would be to replace it anyway!
The cable could be tested via a thru deck connector if it is fitted.
Most problems are caused by bad fitting of connectors and crushing of coax cable, VSWR testing will highlight these problems.
Don`t forget an ineffcient antenna limits the range of your reception as well as transmission.
A free tip. DO NOT, DO NOT, do not use bathroom silicon sealant on connectors the sealant produces a gas which corrodes copper!!!
