Transferring fuel from cans to tank at sea - a solution

We have a few 10l plastic diesel cans with spouts, easy to handle and dispense even in bad weather. We also have larger cans and a jiggle syphon for longer trips.

Yerbut, is your deck filler direct to the tank (ie, can the sea get in)?

I have used the se syphons plastic pipes with a NR all valve at. the end . To start the syphons I shoogle the pipe at the valve end . very effective however the diesel in the end hardens the plastic pipe making it less flexible

In really bad weather the sea could get in but I think you're supposed to listen to weather forecasts and plan ahead. I appreciate that bigger engines than our 30HP Yanmar may need more fuel than a few 10l cans. Our tank is about 80l.
