Transducer Sealent

I have to fit a new through hull transducer, to my S28 what do I seal it with , Silicone, epoxy or some other "Marine sealent", I dont want to risk another expensive lift out it if get it wrong.

I asked this question to Fischer Panda last year when we were talking fitting a water intake through the hull for air con. They use a 3M product called Sikaflex

Dawn Mist is lifted and in Haven Yard at the moment for a bit of the dreaded maintenance, were down on Sat/Sun doing it, anodes and wot not.
Got to fit a new transducer for depth.
Reduced the price to promote sale but no luck yet, cant look for anything else until she's sold. Weve had a great season this year and hardly missed a w/end.
If your down, walk round fror a chat and see us slaven away!!

I've done a few of these and loads of sea cocks.
Like David in the previous post suggested, Sikaflex is the gear you want. easy to use and very water resistent and strong.

I recently fitted a transducer and used "Araldite" Worked a treat and set in a couple of hours. Remember to bed it on Vaseline first in order to test position works ok.

I've never fitted a sea cock ( I've only ever talked about it) and I intend to complete the project during thr winter lift out. Any hints/tips. It will be for air con, any particular dimension recommendations for the sea cock? Any really good makes/materials etc

Why don't you try chewing gum? It's easily mouldable to shape, gap filling, lasts for ever, is totally water-resistant sticks like chewing gum to a blanket...goes as hard as a rock when 'cured' and cheap as chips! Super Bazooka was the stuff to use but Wrigglys may do the trick just as well (carry out a full trial first though). Nowadays you'll have to make sure it's the sugar free stuff though, otherwise acid could form and dissolve all you're hard earned cash.

Let me know if you decide to try it, I have some previously chewed somewhere (on the bedpost I think).....drop me a line and I'll post it to you.
