Today's race is for the professionals. Because of the huge insurance costs the members of the Royal Western who used to organise the race have baulked at the idea. There will be, however, a race for the Corinthians next year.
If you fancy taking part you can always apply to the RWYC.

just back from watching the start, miserable weather but all the boats reefed well down in about 15 knots of wind and going like the clappers, especially the 60ft tris.

a pity they had to split it into 2. when i took part in 1976, we shoestring competitors coexisted quite happiliy with the professionals and there was a field of 140 boats, a good 25% being british.

The Brits have had all the spirit knocked out of them, 'cos of all the over regulation we now have to suffer!

Hay the frogs can have it!! I spent much of the weekend in the Plym being rocked by the surport ribs racing between the moored boats with no regard to the 8 Knot limit. So called profesionals! What a load of W*****s.
