Hi all, off to my brothers place in May to Begur for a week. Not taking the boat but am thinking about returning for a month in the summer with the boat...now I will do my own recon this May but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the area re;- 1) somewhere with a slip 2) somewhere I can leave the trailer and 3) ability to leave the boat in the water for the month we are there! Not sure on La Tuna, which is very close or L'estartit Marina just up the road, looks like 45 mins drive...

If anyone by any chance knows someone personally at the marina I can go talk to when I am there, or any other place you recommend for the above I would be extremely grateful.

Regards,
Tony

L'Estartit is about the biggest marina port on that coast and I'm 99% sure that it has a slipway and travel hoist. We found no difficulty getting a 15m berth there in August so I don't think you'll have difficulty. The marina offices are in the rather swish yacht club and we found them helpful. Sorry, I don't have a contact but I would just pop in during your May trip and explain what you want

would recommend hoisting in to avoid trailor problems when doing that distance. I'm thinking of salt water in the cables, bearings and behind the brake shoe and pad. As you can guess I've had all three problems when in the past trailoring down to Empuriabrava. Downside is the cost which will be about €100 in and €100 out I'm afraid.
Not looked on the map but Palamos Marina may be close to you

Ballistix, AFAIK, the island is some kind of nature reserve and I'm not sure you can land there but if I remember correctly, trip boats can. It seems to be a very popular anchorage though as there were many boats anchored (illegally I think) and attached to buoys when we there. It's a well known diving area too

Deleted User is absolutely right. Definitely no landing on the island but you can tie up to any red bouy. Other colours are for pre booked diving. If you want to scuba dive you have to get a permit from Estartit and they allocate you a bouy.

Wow, wasn't thinking of taking the Scuba gear...now there's a thought...other than Ryanair charging me a million pounds for another bag...anyone dived there? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thanks for the tips..
