anyone got any experience of fitting tracvision or similar. easy to fit? did you buy in uk or import from the states? any problems to look out for? all help welcome. thanks
It was some years ago when they first came out. The fitting was no harder than any item on a mast. Mobo masts or arches normally. If I remember right they did have a few cables to the dish unlike say a Mini-M that just has a single coax. The cable hiding/waterproofing was probably the most difficult part of the design if it was not on an arch. The 6 still requires a big hole in the arch for all the plugs in the centre.
Fitted them as pairs with the phone dome, which was actually a different size.
Quite a few problems in the early versions with stability and oscillations. The drive inside was a rubber belt and the mass of the dish was not insignificant. If the mounting had any vibration problems then they used to get upset. Had to adjust the rubber belt on a lot of them. I have not got any recent experience but any moving dish type machine should be bolted to a heavily damped item. Not on the end of a wobbly bit of stainless. Note that the 6 manual still states the mounting should be "rigid". To be fair we were fitting them to boats just outside the satellite footprint area.
