I do not know where their main office is, but they have e-mailed me to say that their office in Netsel Marina E46, Marmaris will take the flares for refund.
I have been in communication with a few people as we do have a single flare of this type on board, I tried to take it back to the Marine Super Store at Port Solent, they ran away shouting "your problem".
The coastguard is meant to take them back but won't, Pains Wessex will take it back if we drive to High Post, Salisbury Wilts and deliver it.
I'm of the opinion that the next time we are well out to sea, we drop it quietly over the side, comments ??
Oh, the Coastguard will take them at Lee on Solent, they just won't issue you with a credit note for them to spend at your local chandlery. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
The direct line to arrange to drop them off is 02392 552100. But only small quantities at a time are accepted to prevent commercial outfits dumping them on the tax payer instead of using the commercial routes available to them.
The direct line to Pains Wessex for holders of out-of-date White Hand Flares is 02392 623965, and they also have a recall help line number, 02392 623962.

As for suggesting to throw them overboard, that is just such an obvious troll.......
Took mine back to chandler yesterday, fine. BUT wouldn't give a credit note - apparently waiting for Pains Wessex to do something. Tried to SELL me replacements, declined. Well, when did I last use a white flare? In the Seventies when I thought that steam really did give way to sail as I crossed the (busy then) shipping lanes.
Nah, reckon I can now afford to do what I did with that Isle of Wight ferry.
Or have I lost the Thread?
Does anyone know if the PW flares were sold under a different proprietory brand name?
I checked my stock on the boat at the weekend. They are XM branded, but look very similar to the PW flares.
I have tried the helpline. No response so far.
I've just had email contact from the Spanish rep for PW telling me where I can exchange my WHHF's. It's a chandlery very close to me in Denia so I will be popping in over the next couple of days to effect the exchange.
Just returned from Aladins Cave, Donnington Chichester.
More than happy to take the flares back, will not exchange with PW, but with an Ocean Safety product, as they were advised to do so by PW. Or they will give a cash refund.
There was no hestitation at Aladins Cave, in fact they have a safety recall poster on the door! You cant be fairer than that.
We have the same. XM flares look just like PW ones. PLease let us know if you find out. Not got a response from PW abd Xm ar eno more. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
As advised by the Spanish rep I've just exchanged my 4WHHF's at their nominated chandlery in Denia. All very efficient - the new flares were waiting for me; all packed with my name on.
