Torque wrench @ Lidl nxt week

Given the grief a stripped thread can cause, I'd be a bit wary of using a cheap'n'cheerful torque wrench. I've had one of those type before and when I bought a half decent Norbar torque wrench there was quite a difference in when each one clicked when both were set to same figure and used on a test nut and bolt.

I have one of these. Not very precise but not much to go wrong.

Known more for budget quality tools i think but have always also offered better quality as well

These are the "budget" ones from Draper ......... They do better ones at just over £100 to over £200

Make up your own mind about the qulity you are likely to get for little over £20

I have used a lidl torque wrench to tighten my head bolts down. When checked against a friends professional torque wrench it was exactly the same.

perhaps but your friends professional wrench will almost certainly last for years of frequent use but if its true to the brand form your Lidl one will probably break the second time you come to use it! like m Lidl Secuteurs

I bought a second one yesterday, along with a the hydraulic jack and the battery charger. At the moment I borrow my Son's Lidl torque wrench if I need a high-range wrench but I've found the Lidl one also works well as a simple breaker bar. Why buy a one-purpose breaker bar when you can combine two tools into one?

Probably not of great interest, but we receive a Lidls weekly news /offers in our post box. Tomorrow is the torque wrench (€17,99), and I am also going to buy a car cover for our new car (€19,99) and rubber mats (€12,99).
Lidls appear to offer the same 'specials' on the same day in different countries.
I have bought some tools from Lidls of the 'Powerfix' brand name and so far all are ok, despite some pretty hard use on the boat.
We have even bought some clothes there, (don't laugh), but SWMBO balks at the underwear offers. The casual clothes are actually ideal for the boat, as if stained damaged, it is not much of a loss.

Cheers,

Michael.

Yes here in Galicia Lid stacked up with all manner of torque wretches and compressors and air tools..... and ladies under garments.Might get the car cover as we don't have a garage....

I have just bought the items. Note the car cover has size info on the packet. I thought small would be ok, but in fact it says "L" for our new to be car. The mats are of fairly good quality and have the cut out sections to fit just about any car. Torque wrench also looks ok - fairly heavy, so should be ok for the light torque it is designed for. I will carry out a comparison test with our calibrated work ones.
