Anyone got a torque setting for rocker box bolts as I am about to check rocker clearences. Also anyone done this job on this engine? Is it a gasket under rockerbox? WHY is there no engine manuals for marine engines. Evidently beta engines must be used in other machinery, do they have manuals?

Speak to Beta Marine. I have always found them to be extremely helpful. UK phone number is 01453 835282. They do have a PDF engine manual which covers most of what you need for basic DIY servicing but I don't recall seeing torque settings in my copy.

I have a copy on my hard drive. PM me with your e-mail address if you want a copy. N.B. It is 8.7 Mb in size !

Is this PDF called 'The Operator's Maintenance Manual', or is it a bit more sophisticated? If it is more then I wouldn't mind a copy.

My Beta manual covers the 722 and says head bolts (M8) 37.3 to 42.2 Nm; Caps Nuts, Head Cover (M6) 3.9 to 5.9 Nm; Nuts, Rocker Arm Bracket (M6) 9.8 to 11.3Nm.

Hopefully this covers it?

It is indeed the "Operator's Maintenance Manual".

It was sent to me f.o.c. by those nice people at Beta marine. The chap I spoke to mentioned a more in depth manual "more suited to people rebuilding their engine". I think it was actually the Kubota workshop manual ( aren't Betas just rebadged Kubotas ? ).

As the manual was given away for free I suppose there are no copyright or royalty implications in me offering to forward it to anyone who wants a copy ? On this assumption please PM me with your e-mail address if you want a copy.
