Motor ran faultlessly three weeks ago. Charged it up last night to 100% and today it wouldn’t work. It just kept saying no battery status. I reconnected it four or five times but it continued to say no battery status. Has anyone experienced this problem what did you do to resolve it?

Any advice gratefully received.

Data cable connection ???

Alas, like all new and high tech products that experience system and software related issues, you'll soon be dropping it off at the Torqueedo agent to be fixed.

The Torqueedo motors are a joy to behold and lovely to use (friends have them), but my Suzuki 2.2 is reliable, economical, easy to fix DIY and if it all goes terribly wrong, easy to dump/recycle.

I'm sure your schadenfreude is just what the OP was after. Have you considered a career in counselling?

Nonsense - ours is error free with absolutely no maintenance needed after 5 years which is most peoples experience - and I could over say that about a a petrol one. But a couple of times I’ve not got a plug in all the way and had to retighten

+ it, well mine anyway, can be stowed out of the way (not least of the light fingered) under a berth with no leaks or smells, and out and working in a couple of minutes.

If you know anyone with a similar battery I'd suggest trying your battery on their drive unit or vice-versa. Failing that a call to a friendly Torqueedo agent is your best bet. What a shame we don't have one who posts on here (IPC moderators:rolleyes:).

Got some advice that suggested the leads may be a problem so I cleaned them with WD40 as suggested but nothing changed. I charged the battery in and connected it to the controller but it still said no battery status. I’m wondering if the fault is in the battery. I’m surprised no one else has had this issue as it is standard text on the control screen.

Next stop the Torqeedo repair shop.

By the way did anyone else no that the motor seals need changing after 5 yrs?

Did you ever find out what the problem was? Im having the same problem.

Hi Kevin

Yes I did. I sent it off to SeaMark Nunn to repair and also have the 5 year check and seals done. As I keep a record of everything below is what was on the invoice. So the primary problem was a failed PCB on the tiller arm so you could perhaps order this part direct and replace.
The cost for all of the work below was £319 in 2019 but there was quite a lot of additional work. I was very happy with the work Seamark Nunn conducted.

Hope this helps

"Battery Status" fault traced to failing tiller PCB. Replaced. Now works fine.

Little bit disappointed I received no response to this when I went to the trouble of writing a full reply.
hey ho. That’s life.

Looks like they last checked in on 5 January 2022 and therefore before your reply (and not since). I often see this - new member posts a question and never comes back to look at the answers.
You did the right thing and the rest of us are a little wiser
