If you are using a torqeedo as a yacht tender outboard and lift it aboard the mothership each time, do most people disconnect the tiller arm and battery to take advantage of ease of lifting each part or lift it as a whole? does reconnecting the cables each time in practice affect the connections and damage the pins or let water in or is it meant for that? would equally apply to an epulsion ob.

e-propulsion here. Tend to take battery off first but leave tiller arm on to lift with shaft unit. Tiller arm doesn't weigh much anyway so no real weight gain there.
There's a fairly thin cable/connector to reassemble also which could lead to problems which I found out after I had rowed a considerable distance to shore.

It seems to be aging well. LifePO4 has a really good lifetime compared to some other lithium chemistries (like your phone). Handled gently they can last a very, very long time. LEO Satellites get around 40K cycles as an example.

I crane the tender on to the fly bridge with the Torqeedo attached...I then dismantle it and take it downstairs...first thing, I hose off and dry all the parts and then I apply electric contact spray on the plug and socket ends...then I stow it below (in three different places)
