Looks like you have no choice except send it to a Torqeedo service centre.
Having just bought a Torqeedo I would be interested to know what they charge for repairs.

As Poignard says, it looks like a Torqeedo Service Centre has to be the next stop. There are a couple in the south of France. It might not be a costly exercise - my experience of Torqeedo Service in the UK has been exemplary, and I think Torqeedo are very open to contributing to repair costs in a number of circumstances.

Thanks for that reassurance. After the Easter hols i will contact them to see if they are open as an essential service. Also I will have to ship it because it’s more than 10 km away.

High current draw can be caused by dirty commutator / brushes worn. Can you get to them and clean? Or at least spray some electrical cleaner in there.

It’s brushless but it does have a commutator. I can’t open the case because that would void any kind of warranty that i may have (although i don’t think I have any) and as the motor is waterproof I doubt that there is a way to oil it. But I am willing to take any instructions

As you say, there are no brushes. And there's nothing to clean or lubricate.

Just a thought - Have you tried to touching Pos to Neg on the power connection (without battery of course) It may reset the error codes.

No problem as such. Torqeedo did a recall on the battery, 5 years after I'd bought mine. The local Service Centre tested it and declared that it needed a new battery case, which they fitted. All free. The guy in the Service Centre also gave me some good advice about always washing the motor with fresh water after use.

Mine went off to the French service center.....and was never seen again. Torqeedo Germany sent me a brand new battery (two actually but I returned one). But I was out of the water for a few months

Do you mean placing a wire between the connections on the motor side only? If so, without power how can that reset?

You know not of what you speak sir.
Connect the Pos To Neg of the motor supply cables together (battery is not involved in this).
This will discharge any Capacitors in the circuit and may clear the error codes. The memory holding these error code may be stopping the control circuit from activating - (supplying power) to the motor.

As I recall, that's a 4-pin connector. Which pins would you suggest?
And isn't it more likely that the error codes are lurking in the electronics in the tiller, which has a different connection?

1. Remove battery.
2. Multimeter set to volts DC on battery to identify Pos / Neg supply.
3, Put battery to one side.
4, Bridge the pos / neg connection on the battery connection cable.
5, remove bridge.
6, Reconnect battery,
7. See if it go Brum Brum.
8. Grab a beer

Your plan is brilliant, except for the fact that there's no voltage on the battery connections until the electronics in the tiller tell the battery to deliver power. Now how about my query regarding the error codes actually being in the tiller electronics, which have a separate multipin connector?
