In August this year the Top Gear team came on my boat on the boat to film part of their next "Special" show, to be broadcast near or at Christmas 201. Jeremy Clarkson and a camera crew came on my boat, and another film crew were on A+K's Squadron 58 to film from there. There was a chopper filming us too. The plot is that JC and Richard Hammond race from Venice to Pau, in the Pyrenees, home of the first GP. For this part of the show, Hammond is in his own E Type and JC is in m/y Match, racing from St Raphael to St Tropez in the South of France.

We had a fun day filming and JC and the whole crew were delightful guests on the boat. There is also footage taken in Venice aboard a beautiful Riva

Anyway, I've kept a bit quiet about it till now because the program makers don't want too many spoilers, but the movie is now released and available to download or buy and DVD, here http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/top-gear-perfect-road-trip-behind-the-scenes-2013-11-08

I haven't watched it yet but will do this weekend, and it should be a nice combo for petrolheads, boaters, TG fans. I'll let you know how many minutes of boatie footage there are. I'll also post a few stills on here of the filming day

I'm looking forward to it very much, thoses three guys have the best job in the world, better than a porn star!!

Did Clarkson comment on your fuel consumption? A Veyron at 250mph would seem quite fuel efficient compared to 2 x C32 flat out :)

Just watched it through. Was a good show. Fantastic aerial shots from the chopper of St Tropez bay and Match. No mention of fuel burn Anders - probably not PC enough for BBC :-)

Very nice shots of Antibes too, around 20mins in the program

There were some great continuity "issues" for geeks to spot. Eg the cars driving eastbound in Juan Les Pins not west, and Match parking in St Trop at 22kts on the speedo, and a Raymarine e120 dashboard :-)

Thanks JFM, Downloading from iTunes now. Will be something to watch on a drizzly day tomorrow...

Had a V8 F Type for a couple of days this week as a loaner from my Jag dealer...a little spicy in the wet, to say the least.

Did you just click on the link at the bottom of the webpage posted by jfm, or what?
I'm using an add-on to make the target website believe that my IP is in the UK, and it usually works nicely with the BBC iPlayer, for instance.
But with that link, iTunes returns me an error message saying that the item I requested "is not currently available in the U.S. store"...?!?

Can you access the uk iTunes store direct from your mac or does that take you to the US store.

Here is the link, not sure if Apple will work out that you are on a proxy...

Jag should bottle the engine sound. What a fantastic noise. Best I have experienced bar none!

Thanks for the direct link.
Actually, I'm using a Win 8.1 PC, not a Mac. In fact, coming to think of it, the problem might well be with the Win version of iTunes, which seems to insist looking for the US store, for some reason... Otoh, swmbo does have a MacBook, but she never installed any proxy-based IP changer, and she already went nuts in another occasion when I dared installing something on her PC. :D
Oh, well. I won't loose my sleep over that. I was curious to see the Côte d'Azur bits, but actually I find Top Gear style pretty boring, generally speaking.
In all of the last episodes I've seen, I always wondered if I hadn't seen something similar already years before...

Fantastic! How did the Top Gear team hear of Match 2 I wonder?

84 mins of car porn to put a smile on your face on a chilly november afternoon...
Thanks for the heads up jfm...
Trouble now is that my better, younger half now thinks that we need a bigger boat. Oh well, onwards and upwards....

Will the vid be on the telly at Christmas?
Yup I want to know that too. £15 is a bit stiff to see a vid that you may be able to see at Xmas and I have an aversion to giving money to Apple anyway

I dunno for sure. I think they told me at the time that it will be shown on Boxing Day but that was loose chat and I really don't know. I'll ask them and report back

It is quite nice boat and car porn against Côte d'Azur back drop though, and the Match and st tropez helo photography is very nice even though only 6 minutes. Worth a 15 quid download IMHO.

I'm trying to get the raw footage of which there must be an hour or so. If I get it and if they allow it I will try to put some on YouTube. But only if they allow it

I'll screengrab a few frames when I get home* and post them here in case that persuades folks to buy it. I'm not on commission btw!

Excellent timing.
Just to make oldgit smile (for a change), here's what we're having tonight for dinner...

...which should make for some nice waves pics tomorrow morning!

Yup it's been breezy today but not as bad as forecast. I had 32 kts on gauge in the marina today. I'd hate to be in Goode du Lyon though.

I'm sitting on plane NCE awaiting takeoff. Been chatting to captain. He said he had awful turb coming into Nice on inbound flight.many pax very sick and plane is late because they reupholstered some seats and had the carpet cleaners in. My crewgirl flew in tonight (we hotswapped my car at the airport) and she had an aborted landing/go around. Captain on my flight says it will be better on the flight north because we climb above it faster than descending and will use a different routing. Hope he is right!

Maybe oldgit has a point :). If you need help getting a S Coast UK berth for the Azzura, plenty on this forum can help you :)
