... When we get our new boat. Needless to say, excitement is running at fever pitch in the house tonight.

The dealer put the boat in the water yesterday, and will hand it over to us at midday tomorrow (Thursday). I was wondering whether there should be some kind of naming ceremony? (even though the name has been put onto the stern already)

What is the form here?

Oooh dear!
Something must have gone very wrong at the factory! There is only ONE propshaft and there seems to be a rather large bulge on the bottom of the hull, what went wrong there? Oh and someone seems to have planted a dead tree in the middle of the deck.

Ancient boaty superstition - but as long as you only go out on Good Friday accompanied by a vicar dressed as a rabbit, you should be OK (painting the boat green will help as well).

Thank you all for your kind words, and thanks to all of you who have taken the trouble to answer my posts on this forum.

We had a sail on Thursday with Richard, so no Good Friday omens have been invoked (I hope). We cracked a bottle of bubbly, and dribbled some over her bow, some into the water and swigged the rest. So Neptune should be happy.

She is a Jeanneau SO32 Legende, which is the same as a standard SO32, but it comes with more goodies for the same price. Needless to say, we are absolutely thrilled with her, and keep on having to pinch ourselves to make sure we aren't dreaming.

I agree that it will take at least 2 seasons to learn all of her foibles, but based on what we have experienced so far, she is a good 'un.

Incidentally, I find wheel steering much harder than a tiller when berthing - I can see this is going to need lots of practice.
